HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANUARY

Hello there!

If you where born is this month, it means that your stone is Garnet. This stone represents faith, love and constancy. Garnet may provide directional guidance in the darkness, making it ideal for frequent travelers. Its wearers may feel an increase in will power, self image and energy levels, while nervous people may feel calmer. It is also known for relieving inflammations of the skin, regulate the heart, blood flow and aid in curing depression. In earlier times, garnets were exchanged as gifts between friends to demonstrate their affection for each other and to insure that they meet again.

This stone was officially adopted as the January stone by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912. Garnets come in a variety of colors like green, orange, pinkish orange, purplish red, and even some blues (but very rare). However red garnet is one of the most common and widespread gems.

Garnets range from a 7.0 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness and are found in the U.S. (Arizona), South Africa, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Myanmar (Burma), Scotland, Switzerland and Tanzania . Garnets are formed when high temperatures and/or pressure is a factor and geologists often use garnets as a gauge of the amount of temperature and pressure that was present during their formation.

One cool fact about this stone is that is the gem for the 2nd and 6th wedding anniversary.
